Ms Office 2010

Microsoft Office 2010 is a productivity suite for Microsoft Windows, and the successor to Microsoft Office 2007. Office 2010 includes extended file format support, user interface updates, and a refined user experience. With the introduction of Office 2010, a 64-bit version of Office is available, although not for Windows XP or Windows Server 2003. Office 2010 does not support Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.
On April 15, 2010, Office 2010 was released to manufacturing, with those Volume Licensing customers who have Software Assurance being able to download the software from April 27, 2010. The suite became available for retail as well as online purchase on June 15, 2010.

Office 2010 marks the debut of free online versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, which work in popular web browsers (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari. A new edition of Office, Office Starter 2010, replaced the low-end home productivity software, Microsoft Works.

Microsoft's update to its mobile productivity suite, Office Mobile 2010, will also be released for Windows Phones running Windows Mobile 6.5 and Windows Phone 7. In Office 2010, every application features the Ribbon, including OneNote, Publisher, InfoPath, SharePoint Workspace (previously known as Groove), and the new Office Web Apps.

History and development

Development started in 2007 while Microsoft was finishing work on Office 12, released as Microsoft Office 2007. The version number 13 was skipped due to the aversion to the number 13.It was previously thought that Office 2010 (then called Office 14) would ship in the first half of 2009.

On January 10, 2009, screen shots of an Office 2010 alpha build were leaked by a tester.

On April 15, 2009, Microsoft confirmed that Office 2010 would be officially released in the first half of 2010. They announced on May 12, 2009 at a Tech Ed event, a trial version of the 64 bit edition.

An internal post-Beta build was leaked on July 12, 2009, newer than the official preview build and including a "Limestone" internal test application.

On July 14, 2009, Microsoft started to send out invitations on Microsoft Connect to test an official preview build of Office 2010. On August 30, 2009, the beta build 4417 was leaked on the internet via torrents.

The public beta has been available to subscribers of TechNet, MSDN and Microsoft Connect users as of November 16, 2009. On November 18, 2009, the beta was officially released to the general public at the Microsoft Office Beta website which was originally launched by Microsoft on November 11, 2009 to provide screenshots of the new office suite. Office 2010 Beta is a free, fully functional version, and will expire on October 31, 2010.

In a concerted effort to help customers and partners with deployment of Office 2010, Microsoft launched an Office 2010 application compatibility program with tools and guidance available for immediate download. On 5 February 2010, the official release candidate build, build 4734.1000, was available to Connect and MSDN testers. It was leaked to torrent sites. A few days after, the RTM Escrow build was leaked.

Microsoft announced the RTM on April 15, 2010 and that the final version was to have speech technologies for use with text to speech in Microsoft OneNote, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Word. Office 2010 was to be originally released to business customers on May 12, 2010. Business customers with Software Assurance were able to get it since April 27, 2010 and other Volume Licensing customers were able to get it since May 1. MSDN and TechNet subscribers have been able to download the RTM version since April 22, 2010. The RTM version number was 14.0.4760.1000.

On June 15, 2010, Office 2010 was released to retail customers.

New features and Improvements
Office 2010 is more "role-based" than previous versions.[6] There are features tailored to employees in "roles such as research and development professionals, sales persons, and human resources." Borrowing from ideas termed "Web 2.0" when implemented on the Internet, Microsoft incorporated features of SharePoint Server in Office 2010.

Microsoft Office 2010 includes updated support for ISO/IEC 29500:2008, the International Standard version of Office Open XML (OOXML) file format. Office 2010 provides read support for ECMA-376, read/write support for ISO/IEC 29500 Transitional, and read support for ISO/IEC 29500 Strict.[27] In its pre-release (beta) form, however, Office 2010 only supported the Transitional variant, and not the Strict. The intent of the ISO/IEC is to allow the removal of the Transitional variant from the ISO/IEC compliant version of the OOXML standard. Microsoft Office 2010 supports OpenDocument Format (ODF) 1.1, which is an OASIS standard.

New features also include a built-in screen capture tool, a background removal tool, a protected document mode, new SmartArt templates and author permissions. The 2007 "Office Button" was replaced with a menu button that leads to a full-window file menu, known as Backstage View, giving easy access to task-centered functions such as printing and sharing. A notable accessibility regression from 2007 is that the menu button no longer follows Fitts's law. A modified Ribbon interface is present in all Office applications, including Office Outlook, Visio, OneNote, Project, and Publisher. Office applications also have functional jumplists in Windows 7, which would allow easy access to recent items and tasks relevant to the application. Features of Office 2010 include:

    * Ribbon interface and Backstage View across all applications
    * Background Removal Tool
    * Letter Styling
    * The Word 2007 Equation editor is common to all applications, replacing MS Equation 3.0
    * New SmartArt templates
    * New text and image editing effects
    * Screen Capturing and Clipping tools
    * Live collaboration functions
    * Jumplists in Windows 7
    * New animations in Powerpoint 2010

A new feature in Microsoft Office 2010 is the Social Connector. This allows users to write emails while keeping track of their family, friends, and colleagues by viewing status updates and past communication history with the individual. When users view their emails a name, picture, and title is available for the person they are contacting. Upcoming appointments can also be viewed with this new feature and users can request friends. The Social Connector does not work with Office x64 bit versions and Microsoft suggests to use the 32 bit products on their official forums and support. Sync features for Windows Mobile phones like email, contacts and other integration will also not work with x64 versions of Office 2010. There is no information if the final releases coming up in a few days will patch this feature. To date, many features and integrations are missing from the x64 version of Office 2010.

Networking in a Nutshell

Networking is a powerful tool and an integral part of business and professional development. Some people are natural networkers, although many of us find ourselves avoiding events because we don't know how to take advantage of them.

It's not all hard work. With the right method it can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Here are some ideas which you can use to help you get the most out of your network.

What is networking?

As described in the Collins dictionary, a network is an interconnected group or system. Therefore networking is the process of using a network or interconnected group to your advantage.

Why network?

Networking gives you the opportunity to gain insights into other businesses and contacts, and increase your exposure. At a networking occasion you are presented with the opportunity to tap into a wealth of information and experience in one room. A great asset of networking is that you never know what treasure is around the corner.

If time allows for it become involved with a networking organisation. This will open up even more opportunities. Budget and time permitting, organise to be a guest speaker or a sponsor as this will greatly increase exposure for you and your business.

How to network

This is perhaps the most daunting part of the process. Follow these tips to make it easier:

1. Make sure you have enough business cards to hand out and make sure you swap cards; this one of the most important items you can take from the event.

2. Look professional and dress accordingly.

3. Set out objectives for the evening. Are you looking to build your contacts or are you after a certain type of contact? Try and hit your objectives early, then you can generally mingle and increase your exposure.

If you do not find it easy to start a conversation pick a couple of current news topics you can use.

5. Take a colleague or business associate if turning up to an event on your own seems tough. Alternatively it could be a good opportunity to take a new business contact.

6. Take a look around the room – if it's not a seated event look for opportunities to enter conversations.

7. Manage your time and don't get stuck in one conversation. The room is full of ideas, so use the time wisely. Have a general rule of 15 minutes per contact.

8. Remember that everyone is there to network, so the person you are speaking to is also after knowledge and contacts. Think about what you can provide them. Even though you might not get an immediate return you might see potential in the future for a returned favour.

9. Don't dismiss any opportunities – you never know where conversations might lead.

10. Set up future meetings at the event – it's much harder for people to reject you face-to-face.

What to do with the contacts

So, what happens to all those business cards? Firstly you need to categorise them. You can then enter them into an appropriate database which can be set up in Excel or Access. Your database should include information such as contact details, where you met the contact and any special interests or insights you might have gained during your conversation.

Make sure that all ideas are written down in your database and that actions are documented straight away. Networking is mentally and physically draining so notes will ensure the benefits are not lost.

You then need to work out what to do with them – do you have any immediate tasks?

Reaping the benefits

The most important part of networking is ensuring you are able to learn and grow from the experience. The more you gain the better. By setting up some tools you can make sure you don't miss any opportunities. Eventually what once seemed like the daunting process of networking becomes second nature and an important part of growing your business.

Are You Still Not Backing up Your Data?

Planning for a worst-case scenario isn't alarmist. It's common sense. By putting together a data back-up plan you can avoid a business catastrophe!

You should know this by now: Computers can and do fail. And nasty viruses can take down your system by creeping through your antivirus software

and firewall.

The problem is that you usually get no warning before it's too late.

This has happened to many. In extreme cases, it has put companies out of business. And the worst part is this: It's completely avoidable. By backing

up your data, you can retrieve all or most of what you lose.

Yes, there is a hassle involved. But you owe it to yourself — and your business — to take stock of your backup plan (or lack thereof) by reviewing

these tips.

Most Important: Back up Your Customer Databases and Payroll Records
What's the heart and soul of your company? People have different opinions, but certainly your customer or client database has to rank high.

Inside one or two data files are all the nitty-gritty details including what they buy, when they buy, how they pay and so forth. Contact lists also are

databases, and you might have yours combined with your customer list.

So, where would you be if you lost your database? How would you feel if you attempted to open your database and it wasn't there? Not good, I'll bet.

So you should be backing up.

Also mission-critical for backups are your employee payroll records. You don't want to lose the information that you have to report to the tax

department. Your employees don't want problems with them either. And they certainly don't want to be paid late.

Protect Your Registry Settings
You should be backing up all of your data. But if you don't, a third item you should have high on your priority list for regular backups is

your Windows Registry. This is the huge database that tells your computer how to run. Without it, you have an expensive paperweight.

Most backup programs allow you to back up the Registry automatically. If not, you can easily do it manually. Here's how:

• Click Start > Run.

• In the box, enter "regedit" (without the quotes). Click OK.

• In the Registry, click File > Export (or Registry > Export Registry File in Windows 98). Navigate to your backup medium. It will probably be drive

E:.

• Name the file and click Save.

You don't need to back up Windows or your applications, such as Microsoft Word. If the worst happens, you can always re-install them. But

information you create must be protected.

Store Your Backups Off-Site

To really be safe, the backup medium (tape, CD or DVD, etc.) should be removed from your site. If you are backing up to tape, for instance, and you

leave the tape cartridge in the machine, you'll be protected if the hard drive fails. But if the equipment is stolen, or the office burns to the ground, the

backup will be lost.

The safest procedure is to use a different tape or disk each day. Keep all but the current day's backups off-site — at your home, perhaps.

Forget About Doing Backups with Floppies
The earliest backup medium was the floppy. These are no longer practical. They hold hardly any data, so a large collection would be needed for a

backup. You would have to sit at the computer for hours, swapping the floppies in and out. Don't even think about it.

Tape has been the medium of choice for a number of years. Tapes are relatively slow, but the process can be automated. You can schedule the

backup for when you're sleeping.

Tape drives and the tapes to go with them are relatively expensive, too. And the software can be difficult. Tape is a great backup medium, once you

understand it. It has its drawbacks in terms of the time and work involved. But once you get a system running, it can go smoothly.

Here are some other options:

• Back up to a burner — a CD or DVD drive. Neither holds nearly as much data as a tape. If you decide to go this route, be sure your software allows

automated backups. A CD or DVD will work well if your data is not voluminous. CDs will hold up to 700 MB; most DVDs will hold 4.7 GB.

• Use a Zip or Jaz drive. These are made by Iomega. Zips hold 250 MB of data; Jaz holds 2 GB.

• Use an external hard drive. These hold a vast amount of data. They attach to the computer via high-speed connections such as USB 2.0 or FireWire.

Hard drives are fast, so the backup wouldn't take much time. But an external hard drive is relatively bulky, so you would get tired of taking it home.

Another Option to Consider: Backing up on an Internal Hard Drive
You could use a second internal hard drive, although that would mean leaving the backup in the office. Windows automatically accommodates multiple

hard drives. You could simply copy your data from the master hard drive to the second one, known as a slave.

If having two hard drives appeals to you, consider a RAID system. RAID stands for Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks. These systems can be

complicated but a two-disk system is simple; you set it up as a mirror.

When you save something, it automatically saves to both drives. The second drive looks just like the first. So if one fails, you have a perfect copy. And

RAID will automatically switch you over to the working drive.

Some motherboards have RAID capability built in. If yours doesn't, a RAID card can be added to the computer.

However, a RAID system would leave your backup inside the computer. That leaves you vulnerable to fire or theft.

Need More Security? Consider an Online Backup Service
If you're especially concerned about safety, you might want to consider an Internet backup. There are many firms on the web that will store your data

for you, for a monthly fee. You can run the backup automatically.

Don't consider this route unless you have a high-speed internet connection. Backups by dial-up modem could tie up your phone lines for hours at a

time.

Also, Microsoft SharePoint offers the ability to store copies of your most-vital business documents in a secure area that you can access through the

Internet. SharePoint is available as part of Windows Server 2003.

It may be needed to keep the most frequently visited URLs in the address book for your quick access and only the unnecessary URLs will have to be deleted.

The Internet eraser software also allows PC users to remove and delete cookies from their computer. Cookies are special files that can spy on your personal information and all the activities you do on the website. It is not that all cookies are bad; there are some cookies that are good. So it is up to you to delete only the cookies that you don’t need and to retain the cookies that you need on not only IE, but also FireFox, Opera and Netscape.

7 Things to Look for in a New Desktop PC

7 Things to Look for in a New Desktop PC If you're not a techie, buying hardware can be an arduous task. Use these tips for buying a machine that best suits your business needs.

Does your old clunker make wheezing noises when it boots up? Has your typing become faster than your computer? Tired of looking at the Windows hourglass for minutes at a time?

Perhaps it's time for a new desktop computer.

Computer manufacturers continue to struggle with weak business. Meanwhile, component manufacturers are making their goods smaller, faster and cheaper. The upshot: You can get a good deal on a powerful machine.

I can't recommend individual machines. They might not be on the market when you read this. Instead, let's go through the components that make up computers. Use these to help decide what you need.

Following are seven points to ponder before you buy:

The Microprocessor
This is one of the most expensive parts. Microprocessors for Windows machines are made by Intel and AMD. Those for Apples are made by IBM and Motorola. So here's my first piece of advice: Don't worry so much about who makes the chip. All four are good. For Windows machines, you have a choice of the AMD Athlon XP, the Intel Pentium 4 and the Intel Celeron, an economy chip. The Pentium 4 and Athlon XP are upper end chips. The fastest Pentium 4 runs at 3.2 Gigahertz — a very fast speed indeed. It's also very expensive. The comparable AMD chip, the 3200+, is slightly less expensive.

You may need these fire-breathers if you're doing lots of video editing. Ditto if you're working with computer-aided design or playing advanced games. Otherwise, look to chips running at 2.4 GHz to 2.6 GHz (or 2400+ to 2600+, in AMD-powered machines). They're cheaper, and they perform nearly as well as the top-end chips.

Intel's Celeron is a budget chip. If you do typical office duties and surf the web, you probably wouldn't notice the difference between a top-end Celeron and a Pentium 4 running at the same speed. But you could save some money.

Apple and AMD chips run at lower speeds than those made by Intel. AMD uses the + symbol, as in 3200+, to imply that its chips are faster than comparable Intel microprocessors, despite running more slowly. Indeed, tests often show that to be the case.

Apple claims that its top-end machines are faster than those running Windows. That is a matter of controversy; there are websites devoted to debunking Apple's claims. Apple's chips run at much lower speeds, so they are difficult to compare directly. If you're interested in an Apple computer, test one at a store, then test a Windows machine. Apple computers are more expensive than comparable Windows machines.

Both Apple and AMD have new 64-bit microprocessors. They can crunch twice as much data as 32-bit chips. But there are virtually no programs that take advantage of this power now. That will change in the future, but these expensive new chips don't offer as much value today.

The Operating System
Windows XP and Apple's OS X are also difficult to compare. But there's really no need. Both are stable and fast. You'll probably be satisfied with either.

Windows XP comes in two flavours: Home and Professional. Windows XP Professional has all of Home's goodies, plus some other stuff. Most of it is networking capability. Professional costs more.

But it does have some nice features. One is Remote Desktop, which allows you to access one computer from another. For instance, you could sign onto your office computer from home and check your email. It also allows you to encrypt files and folders.

Random Access Memory
You will need a minimum of 256 megabytes of memory. If you can afford it, get 512 MB. I'd go to one gigabyte for demanding applications, such as video editing. Memory is relatively inexpensive, so don't skimp.

Hard Drives are Big and Bigger
If you do a lot of video work, you need a big hard drive. Video files are huge. Hard drives at 200 to 250 GB are common and relatively inexpensive.

Otherwise, the gargantuan drives common today far outstrip the customer's needs. Even low-end machines today have 40 GB hard drives. You are unlikely to fill that. I recommend putting your extra money elsewhere.

The Video System
The video system sends the picture to the monitor. Many inexpensive computers use the main-system RAM to run video. The video processor is built into the motherboard (the main circuit board). This works, but is less desirable.

Better computers have a separate circuit board, called a video card. This includes the video processor and memory. For video cards, 64 MB of RAM is pretty standard. That's more than enough for day-to-day computing.

However, if you are doing video work or playing advanced games, get a card with 128 MB of RAM. Truly hardcore game players can get cards with 256 MB of RAM.

The Monitor
Do you need to buy a monitor? Most people get one without thinking. But monitors don't necessarily come with computers. Often, you can lower your cost by refusing the monitor. If you're satisfied with your current monitor, it should work OK with your new computer.

There are two basic types of monitor, as mentioned above: CRTs and flat-panels. CRTs are the cheaper option: I would not buy a CRT monitor that was less than 17 inches. Keep in mind that that measurement is diagonal, and includes a portion of the screen hidden behind the bezel. A 17-inch CRT will have a visible screen size of 16 inches or less.

Flat-panel monitors are far more expensive than CRTs. They come in two flavours: analogue and digital. Digital signals are produced natively by the computer; they do not need to be converted. Analogue signals are converted from digital by the video system. Some consider digital signals clearer.

CDs and DVDs
All computers come with optical drives — either CD or DVD. All but the very cheapest have burners. ("Burning" is the process of making a CD or DVD.) CD-RW burners are still the most common, but DVD burners are available on more expensive machines.

DVD is wildly popular, but remains troubled by incompatible standards. You're likely to see DVD+R/RW or DVD-R/RW on a computer. They are incompatible, but most players can handle R discs made on either. R means a disc can be recorded once. RW stands for rewriteable, meaning a disc can be recorded numerous times. DVD burners can also make CDs.

I recommend that you purchase a CD-RW, at least.

One final point: I hear from so many people wondering when the best time to buy a computer is. There will always be something faster, better, hotter, cooler, bigger or smaller coming. If you need a computer, buy one now.

Foxfire - Do You Know That This Browser Protects Your PC From Phising

Whenever you are surfing the internet and you come across a site that asks you for your credit card details, do you check to see if the site is genuine? Do you make sure that the site actually belongs to the company you are dealing with? Or is it just some college kid who has bought a similar domain name. Termed as Phishing, today there are numerous methods that cyber criminals employ to obtain credit card details and other sensitive information online. Cyber criminals usually use emails and instant messaging to 'Phish' for information.

Lets take an example, say a customer has a bank account with xyz bank, usually all the literature the bank sends out clearly mentions which site to log on to and which site to access for net banking and other online transactions, so lets say the bank's authorized site is xyz.com, now what cyber criminals do is buy a domain name similar to xyz.com, something like xyzbank.com, as far as a user is concerned need not worry when entering his details on the website of xyzbank.com, as it is his bank’s website right? Wrong! Before you carry out any banking transaction or net banking activity online, don't just guess or assume the website of your bank, make sure you visit the website that is mentioned in the literature the bank provided, in fact even if you have been dealing with a website so far, double check to see that the site is the authentic site of your bank.

Another popular way of obtaining credit card information and other sensitive information like net banking passwords is to send a customer an email that looks just like an email from the bank. By using software called anonymous mailers a cyber criminal can send an email from any computer and imitate the same email that your bank uses. This in essence is called Phishing, a term I had used earlier in the article. Things to remember when you receive any email that asks for your credit card information or net banking details are:

a) A majority of the banks do not ask for any sensitive information online, in fact they usually mention clearly in all their literature that they will never send out a mail asking you for your net banking, or credit card details.

b) If you feel that an email is genuine and has been sent by your bank, make sure you call the bank and verify that they have sent you the email, you will be surprised by how genuine some Phishing emails look.

The internet has made is simpler for people to make purchases online, and to carry out financial transactions like bill payments and other funds transfers. However by being aware of the various ways in which you can get scammed, you are protecting yourself from any future complications that might arise. Remember when in doubt make sure you check the authenticity of the site you are dealing with, or better still just call your bank if you are not sure that the email you are looking at was sent by them.

9 Tips To Keep Windows XP Running Smooth

There are many things that cause a computer to be sluggish from software to hardware. It can be too small a hard drive or not enough RAM. It can be anything from BIOS and/or Operating System Settings to programs that are eating up your CPU and RAM (no matter how much you have). Or it can be your network.

Personally, I work my computer like a young mother with a house full of kids 12 to 18 hours a day.

That mother needs to unwind at the end of the day and so does my computer and probably yours too.

Here are 9 Tips in the order they should be completed that can help keep your computer happy and working without complaining:

1. This is so basic I shouldn't need to say it, Keep Which Ever E-Mail Program You Use Cleaned Out. I have clients who are always complaining, but who refuse to dump years and years of accumulated e-mail.

2. Make sure you have a good anti virus program (Only one per computer please), have it up to date, and auto monitoring.

3. Make sure you have a good anti spy ware program (Only one per computer), have it up to date, and auto monitoring.

4. Run Disk Clean Up Daily (Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Clean Up - a box opens - make sure each box is checked, click 'OK' - a box pops up - Click Yes).

5. Delete Cookies and Cached Files Daily (Start, Control Panel -if you have not done it yet, click 'Switch To Classic View', Internet Options - a pop up box will appear - Delete Cookies, Click OK, Click Delete Files - check 'Delete All Offline Content' - Click OK, Now Set Your Clear History to no more than 7 Days - if you haven't used it for a week you probably won't miss it - Click OK)

6. A very important step almost everyone misses: Empty The Prefetch Folder (Start, My Computer, 'C' , Windows, Prefetch Folder, Edit, Select All, File, Delete - pop up box appears - Click Yes, Close Windows Window)

7. Empty Recycle Bin. For the sake of brevity, I am assuming everyone knows where it is and how to empty it.

8. Scan Hard Drive 'C' (Start, My Computer, Right Click 'C' - box opens - Click Properties at the bottom - another box opens - Click Tools, Click Check Now, Make sure both 'Automatically fix file system errors' and 'Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors' are checked, Click Start. Get a cup of java (oh, black, thank you) and Wait !

9. Defrag Computer (Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Defragmenter - window opens - Select 'C' Drive, Click Defragment). Pop a top and Wait !

The last two steps (8 and 9) can take awhile if they have not been done recently. I complete this entire routine on my computer just before I stop work for the day everyday and the entire sequence takes no longer than 20 minutes and often much less.

Internet Cleanup and Disk Cleanup Tools

In this modern world of technology, practically everyone is a computer for some reason or the other. Computers are today used not only for education and research; it is also a great means of communication. It is now possible to reach people across the world within a matter of minutes with electronic mail, online chat and web conferencing. However, much advantageous the internet is to a person; it has its share of disadvantages too.

The main disadvantage that the internet poses to the computer is the recording of unwanted pictures, images, websites and URLs in hidden files in the computer. It is highly probable for a visitor of a porn site to have illicit pictures getting recorded in the computer, which proves to be troublesome if it falls in the hands of children and wrong people.

The best thing that has to be done to prevent all this is to have an internet eraser software installed in the computer. With the installation of the right internet eraser software, the computer can be scanned for unwanted files which are then removed. The files can be deleted manually or the user can set options for deleting these unwanted files automatically by the internet eraser software. Besides this, your sensitive information stored in the computer such as passwords, bank account number, and social security number are also protected by this internet eraser software.

This is because no unwanted matter gets recorded in the computer when there is internet eraser software in the computer. With the internet eraser software, you can opt to delete the internet history files one by one instead of deleting all the IE internet history files. This is because sometimes it is rather convenient to have the IE auto complete URLs in the browser. Here you just have to type the first or second letter in the URL instead of the whole name to visit the site.

With the presence of internet eraser software in the computer, it is possible to have the computer scanned for porn related tracks. Some porn addicts have a habit of visiting porn sties rather frequently. There is a possibility of unwanted pictures falling in the hands of wrong people. This can be prevented by the internet eraser software.

There are many different types of internet eraser software available in the internet. It is all up to you to choose the internet eraser software you would like to have installed in your computer. With the right internet eraser software installed in your PC, you are sure of the safety of your computer.

Being Stalked On Facebook

Being stalked on facebook is not a pleasant experience. I wonder in actual fact how many people have been stalked on facebook? When one thinks about stalking the first scenario which pops to mind is one of a man obsessively following a woman with some sort of physically abusive intent.

But stalking actually takes many different forms. In fact, something which happens more frequently than you might expect is that someone begins to stalk you on facebook. So many of us share photographs and an immense amount of our lives in written format on social sharing sites such as facebook or through placing blog posts. Sometimes this is simply a social thing which we do; at other times this type of social posting is part of your business networking and marketing of your business interests.

You do not tend to get stalked by complete strangers whether you are being stalked in person or being stalked on facebook; there is usually a tie of some description, loose though it may be. Thus it comes as a bit of a surprise when you are in the latter category (posting for business purposes) and you get stalked. But, if it has happened to you and you are aware that you have been the subject of facebook stalking, when you look back you will realize with hindsight that it is far easier for the stalker to go about their sleuth work when you are intent upon and distracted by your business goals.

This is what happened to me. When your intent is networking or viral marketing you aren't vetting every "friend request" very closely. If you were just using facebook or your blog for personal reasons you would only accept real friend requests from people you know in person or only reveal your blog to close friends. And so I accepted as a friend a faceless request and they proceeded to hover over my photographs, blog posts and web pages with a jealous obsession of which I was at first blissfully unaware. I was being stalked on facebook for more than a few months before I fully realized what was happening.

I had in fact attempted to keep my facebook profile one which was oriented towards "business only" activity. But inevitably, over time, your guard slips and you begin to think that it won't matter if some of your friends are on there too. Not only that, many of your friends want to be there so as to assist you in virally marketing your business. In hindsight, I was far too trusting in the goodness of human nature.

It becomes very easy to stalk, and to be stalked, in these circumstances. Here the would-be-stalker is, sitting at home on Friday night, wondering perhaps what their ex is doing with their life. They find themselves drawn to facebook and search for their name; up pops their page where you can see photos of all of their friends. Now you begin to wonder who those friends are. Which one is the new girlfriend? How does he know her or she know him? Starting to stalk or being stalked on facebook is so damnably easily done.

It doesn't take long to figure out who's who when you have access to those pages on facebook and a masochistic motivation to know more than is in fact good for you. It only takes a few more lonely weekends for you to consider it acceptable to create a bogus profile and begin to stalk on an on-going basis. I'm sure the stalker doesn't see it as stalking and can find many a justification for their actions. But come on now, face reality, face the facts. You created a faceless page because you knew wanted to hide your identity. You knew you were totally out of line and your shadowy presence unwanted.

I was in fact amazed by the extreme anger I felt upon discovering my stalker. I was absolutely livid and in fact am still very galled by their nerve. I am normally a pretty peaceful person with a "live and let live" nature; I can put myself in the other's shoes quite eaily and automatically, and yet I found myself dealing with an instinctive desire to completely crush this person. In actual fact this is the normal "fight or flight" reaction kicking in at times of threat; being stalked on facebook is a threat, same as if you are being followed down the street, and your mind and body instinctively ready themselves to fight back with everything that you've got!

I am reminded of a friend who had a slightly different experience but displayed the same livid emotional reaction. Another woman had persisted in telephoning and asking her and her husband to dinner. Again and again she called; again and again she happened to appear in the park outside their house. My friend explained that this other woman had an unveiled interest on her husband; she was in fact being stalked as a way to try to get to her husband.

She was not threatened by this in terms of making her fear losing her husband as they have a very solid relationship. But she found the whole situation totally insulting and was outraged that another woman could act like that towards her. Her emotions were so strong that she said she could not be in the same room as this woman without verbally ripping into her.

At the time I must admit that I thought her reaction was a bit over the top. As we discussed this whole stalking scenario, I pointed out that it wasn't even worth worrying about; this woman's interest in her husband was never going to be a real threat to her. Her response was that I had too forgiving a nature; that I was too open and trusting. As she said, who needs friends who would treat you like that? Why would you open the door to them?

Now that I have been subjected to a stalking experience myself, all be it via facebook and not in person, I am totally with her; I find my forgiving nature has deserted me.

What I found doubly ironic was that in the final email exchange on facebook (the one which made me realize that this so called friend was in fact stalking me) she attempted to say I was being untruthful when I did not answer her question in the way that she wished. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! She'd been lying and deceiving me intentionally for months whilst stalking me on facebook.

She was in fact so determined to push me to agree with her viewpoint that she unwittingly revealed her identity. She was immediately deleted as a friend and the door slammed in her face. She will however still be able to stalk me to a degree. I will no longer be stalked by her on facebook, but for my business I do post articles on my blog. In fact, I would wager a rather large bet that she reads this very article almost as soon as it is posted.

I rather hope that, as well as being embarrassed by her atrocious behavior, she has now realized that stalking me has never actually done her any good, and will perhaps recognize that it is high time to seek help with her insecurities and obsessions. She will maybe also realize that her own emotional baggage is what stops her from nurturing positive relationships.

To protect yourself against being stalked on facebook, everyone should take at least a few basic precautions. Make sure there are recent photos to be seen, check that there are a fair number of friends, how long they have been on facebook and what type of activity they have been involved in whilst on facebook.

Get Started With Your First Blog

There is no question that blogging is one of the best ways to get keyword rich content on your site, get your message on the search engines and get traffic to your website. But how do you get started blogging?

When you consider starting a blog there are many options. A great way to get started blogging quickly (and for free) is to use an online ‘standalone’ service like WordPress or Google’s Blogger. These are free, highly customizable tools that support both new and more advanced bloggers. The negative is that you can’t use your website’s domain name. For instance, if using Blogger, you blog address would be something like ‘yourblog.blogspot.com.’ While you can link to this from your current website, search engines won’t know give you ‘credit’ for the extra content since it is a different domain. With creative cross linking however, you can still benefit from the increased exposure you can get from a blog.

These free services provide powerful software tool that balance value, quality, and ease of use. While some people prefer to use more basic blog services, they too can truly benefit from the ‘built-in’ benefits of WordPress or Blogger along with its existing large community of users.

One of the most notable benefits of these services is the ease of use, and advanced functionality of the service compared to some blog software applications. Neither Blogger nor WordPress require you to know any ‘coding’ and allow you to built and post to your blog with easy to use icons similar to what one would see in a word processing program. Having the ability to utilize a program like this allows people to create blogs that are as high tech, and complete as full blown websites.

If you are occasionally ‘offline’ you can benefit from WordPress’s ability to import posts. This means you can put your blog together while you are not connected to the internet and then import it later. If you already use another blogging service such you can also import your posts directly into Blogger or WordPress.

Another benefit of these services is their large widget or element and theme libraries that allow you to instantly add useful features, and professional looking styles to your blog. A very simple drag and drop interface allows you to add features such as an RSS feed with a few clicks.

Another option to consider would be blogging software that you can directly integrate into your website. Some hosting provides such as GoDaddy allow you to use your existing domain name for you blog. The benefit is that the content of your blog becomes part of what search engines see for your domain. In these cases you are more likely to pay a monthly add-on fee to your hosting provider. As an alternative, Google’s Blogger allows you to publish to a FTP site, which means you can blog from your own domain. You lose some of the flexibility of the ‘out of the box’ service, but with a little effort you can have a customized template and pretty easy posting capability that resides within your domain.

As your needs become more advanced or if you are a more technical blogger you may also consider blogging software that can be directly integrated into your website. One to consider is bBlog. bBlog is an open source, PHP/MySQL application. If you don’t know what the last sentence means, then this isn’t for you. If you do know, then you may benefit from the expanded flexibility an integrated application could provide.

In the end, you have a wide, wide range of very inexpensive (or free) options to get started.

The Importance of Privatizing Your Facebook Page

CAUTION: What information you provide on your Facebook page, MySpace, LinkedIn, and Twitter could cost you money that you deserve in your personal injury case.

Although most people use social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Linked In and My Space as a way of reconnecting with old friends and keeping up with current friends, these websites are also used for purposes other than relationship building.

What you may not know is that insurance companies also use social internet sites and other internet sites to learn about your life and gain access to your personal information. Insurance companies know that they can glean an abundance of personal information about accident victims through their social networking sites. In order to try to damage your accident case, they will search the internet for any and all information that could make you look bad.

Insurance adjustors, claims adjusters, investigators and defense attor-neys scour the internet, aware of the vast amount o information offered freely by people online. Whether on a personal web page, blog, or other website such as Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, or Twitter, to name a few, the information to be found can be a goldmine for building a case against claimants.

This technique of surfing online for information on an accident victim is "internet surveillance." The information on the sites may be relevant to litigation, especially in the context of a personal injury claim.

They will view:

Pictures you post; pictures friends post of you; videos you post; activities you talk about; your work activities; any relationships that you may have.

Your accident case could potentially be ruined by the information that you provide on social media sites, video sites, and photo sites.

If you have been in an accident, you need to be aware of what you and others put on the internet about you before you bring a case against the person responsible for the accident. Even if you think your posts are perfectly innocent, insurance companies will take bits and pieces of information about you and use it to try to build their case against you. In addition to being aware of what you post and what others post about you on the internet, it is also a good idea to increase your privacy settings so that insurance companies and other people who you may not want seeing your private and personal information do not have full access to your profile.

Blogging for Profit

Would you like to make money blogging? There are a lot of people earning extra cash and even making a living blogging, and you can too. First, you need to come up with a topic people are interested it. The topic has to be one you know a lot about or enjoy. If you want to know more about link building then www.swapw.blogspot.com, talks about the link train.com and that is the similar thing to what we have been talking in this article. Well in this blog he uses words as Alexa trains, technorati trains, link trains, viral link trains etc…which again talks about linking. Well technorati is a term used for a link, it is either linking to one other blog or other site. This is also just an experiment to understand if the linking helps in getting visitors and earns reputation for the blog itself.

It is essential to also understand other Blogs and know how other Bloggers are earning a potential income from nothing. Research is the best thing to understand and know the other Bloggers as well, it is important to establish a rapport or communication so that you are able to learn some things that you do not know in Blogging.

One other thing in Link building is to establish good linking sites and learn from those sites and than may be take permission from the owner of the site for link building, I am sure a polite language can always give you an earning potential in the Blogging industry. There are people who do not have patience, and want to find their way in earning good money but they fail because of the impatience and ignorance in researching more about what they want to do and how they would like to achieve certain things as Bloggers.

Today there are tons of Bloggers who are into the business of Blogging and they are doing pretty good I have to say, but it is just through learning, establishing and link building that you find your way in this business. Link Building is fun, because this is a way of getting to know what other blogs or sites are doing and you also come to know the improvement methods for yourself so that you can keep changing your styles as in with the flow like other Bloggers do.

Facebook is the best social network and one of most favorite internet sites these days that persons of all age ranges are getting involved with. In case you really do not currently have a Facebook account, I highly recommend that you just go and register now. If you already have an account, it's time to start out employing it for your advantage. Facebook is not just a place where you'll be able to connect with your close friends, it can in fact be employed to further your individual brand and career. Here is how you possibly can use Facebook to its full potential:

Never stay inside your circle – You ought to get away from just communicating with your high school or college friends and begin interacting with persons within your business or other businesses that you desire to have into. An simple method to do that is to join groups that appeal to you as properly as make buddies with individuals that you would like to have to know.

Fill out your profile (fully) – The most effective profile on Facebook is often a complete one. This doesn’t mean you should submit your name and contact details, it just means you have to complete all of the fields available.

Do not be shy – The purpose of Facebook should be to connect and socialize with other members, so really do not be shy! Coomunicate back with other members by writing on their wall, commenting on ımages, asking your good friends questions, and most importantly telling all your good friends happy birthday. Performing all these tasks will enable others to have to understand who you actually are instead of just knowing your name.

Spice up your profile – Facebook Applications lets you spice up your profile by adding details that appeal to your interest. For example, Which places you've been before? Who are your top close friends? etc ...

Create it, and they won't come – You basically need to market your self on Facebook to turn out to be popular. In most cases this can be carried out from interaction, which I noted above, but you can also do things like including images of your self and other Facebook users. Whenever you do this the other persons that you just tagged inside the picture will get emailed, thus growing the number of individuals who see you on Facebook. Some from the other things to take into account are generating a group or a page on Facebook as nicely as generating your own application, which could be sent out to all your pals.

Retain your profile up-to-date – In the event you do not maintain your profile up-to-date it's going to commence dying down. By keeping it up-to-date it will acquire far more traffic and additional men and women will get to recognise you.

How to Submit Your Blog to the Top Search Engines

Although submitting your blog to the search engines is very similar to submitting your website, there are several differences that you should be aware of. Knowing these differences can help you get your blog indexed more quickly because you have submitted your blog correctly.

Regardless of whether you are submitting a blog or a website, if you are submitting to Google, you should create a sitemap. Although you should check your sitemap periodically to make sure Google isn't encountering any errors with your sitemap, once you submit it, you don't have to submit to Google again. All you have to do is keep your sitemap up to date.

If you use a blog like Wordpress, you can install the sitemap plugin. This plugin updates your sitemap automatically and notifies Google that your site has changed.

If you don't use a blogging software that generates sitemaps, you can create your own. Google offers plenty of free tools for creating sitemaps.

Even if you don't have a sitemap, you can still add your site to Google. You just won't get detailed statistics.

You can submit to Google here: http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/login

Since Google doesn't allow direct submission to its blog search, you will need to make sure that you submit your site to blog directories Google pulls results from for its blog search, and then make sure you ping these sites when you update your blog.

You can use sites like Feed Shot, http://www.feedshot.com, to submit your site to some of the major blog directories. Then you only need to ping your blog to update it at these directories.

When submitting to Yahoo, you need to submit your site feed instead of a sitemap. You can submit your blog to Yahoo here: http://submit.search.yahoo.com/free/request. Instead of submitting your site, you will use the first block and submit your feed.

You should also add your blog feed to your My Yahoo page. This can get your blog added faster and will get your blog included in Yahoo's version of blog search.

You will need an account to submit to both Yahoo and Google. It's free.

MSN, the third of the big three search engines is completely different in the way that you need to submit to get your blog included.

You can submit directly to MSN to be included. You don't need an account, but you will need to submit manually because you will need to enter the characters on the page to make sure your submission request goes through.

You can submit here: http://beta.search.msn.com/docs/submit.aspx

MSN also offers an alternative that will help you get your entire blog included in its site results. Submit your blog to Moreover, http://www.moreover.com. If your site is included in Moreover, it should be included in MSN as MSN draws a lot of results from this news site.

Once you've submitted your blog to the top three search engines, forget about it. Your next step should be to ping your blog each time that you post to it.

Before you ping your blog for the first time though, make sure that you glance through the list of blog directories. You want to make sure you have submitted your blog to each of the directories listed. Also, some of the ping sites listed may not relate to your blog. Make sure you uncheck these before you ping.

Ping Services

http://www.pingtheempire.com
http://www.pingoat.com

Ping your blog each time you update.

These techniques will help you get about 80 percent coverage in the search engines. Once you've taken this step in your promotion, move on. Write press releases and articles and submit them to press release and article directories. Build links.

Successfully promoting your blog or website depends on consistent promotion. Promote regularly, and you will see results.

Tips to Make Blog Load Faster

The speed at which your blog loads is critical to attracting more readers to your blog. If your blog takes a long time to load, many readers may leave your blog before they have the chance to read it. Here are a few tips and tricks that will help your blog load faster and attract more users:

Your blog's load time can be affected by the number of posts you display on your main page. We recommend displaying 10 or fewer posts on the main page.

Third Party JavaScript and Links
For optimal blog load speed, we recommend using Google/Blogger widgets, JavaScipt and links. However, if you need to use third party JavaScipt and links, your blog will load much faster if you put all JavaScript at the bottom of your blog. If you have third party JavaScript and links in your sidebar, put them in at the bottom of the sidebar.
Images and Media

The more images, videos and other multi-media you have on your blog the longer it will take to load. However, images and other multimedia are important to attracting users to your blog, so it is important to optimize the load speed of your images and media. Here are a few tips to increase the load speed of your media:

    * Decrease the size of your images or use thumbnails that link to the full-size image.
    * If you use third party images, consider uploading them to Picasa Web Albums via the Blogger post  editor.
    * If you have a large number of images to display, you can upload all your images (from a vacation or event) to a Picasa Web      Album and link to the album in your post or sidebar.
